Skipping Christmas

I skipped the company’s Christmas party last Friday. Or was there a party? It’s my first time to have done this. I have a valid reason though. I don’t know if someone ever looked for me.

In the next few days, there will be plenty of Christmas parties that I have to attend. If I have my way, I’d like to skip them all and go someplace else, perhaps in a white sandy beach far from the city. But I can’t. Not now, and not here in the Philippines. Someone will surely look for me. And if I happen to skip any, my absence would surely be a topic in conversations. No excuse would be valid enough.

I suppose that skipping parties is okay. What we have actually been doing for the past years is to hold not parties but fund-raising activities instead. Sharing can be a fulfilling experience. Giving a poor family a decent Noche Buena can be overwhelming.

I too long for a vacation but has been unable to do. Maybe when I have lesser things in mind, I will give myself a break.

schumey, we have our own christmas project: feeding children in a dumpsite. I'll post pictures of that activity soon.
